Tiara's and Transcendence with K Kakes: A Styled Story

In the world of weddings and events, styled shoots provide a canvas for vendors to showcase their talents, explore new trends, and push the boundaries of traditional aesthetics. From intimate elopements to grand affairs, these meticulously curated days/events are a truly unique way to create inspiration, express one’s artistry, creativity, and elegance that define unforgettable celebrations as well creating as a networking opportunity for suppliers.

Having participated in a few styled shoot organised by other vendors, this year I took the plunge and planned one myself! I wanted to create a gallery through the lens of relaxed inclusivity and luxurious elegance, paint a portrait of celebration that transcends boundaries and touches hearts.

I was delighted to have achieved just that with the help of an incredible team of suppliers who shared the same vision.

First, let me set the scene for you. Picture this: vast grounds, timeless charm, and a venue that screams luxury— that's West Lodge Park Hotel for you. It was the perfect backdrop for our day of creativity and celebration and a venue I am proud to be a recommended supplier.

Now, let me introduce you to the stars of our show: Rachel and Lee, a real-life married couple who brought love and authenticity to our shoot. They were joined by two incredibly talented photographers, Cherelle Blake and Cat Brant, who captured every moment with finesse.

Of course, as a cake artist, I couldn't wait to showcase my pièce de résistance: a cake designed with the floral tiara from Prop Option. Crafted with precision the Cake Tiara offers a different floral arrangement options in cake design. Whether you're aiming for a classic, regal look or a whimsical, modern vibe, from intricate floral patterns to sleek, minimalist designs, the options are endless.  My cake style is elegant, tall and features textures with a love for floral artistry using mostly fresh and silk flowers; the floral tiara lends itself perfectly for my style. I created a 3 tier cake heavily textured with wafer paper, using the floral tiara to elevate it to 4tiers as well as adding flower to the design.

It was all about combining my artistry and the floral tiara to create something truly special and spectacular!

Our dream team didn't stop there. We had Corlia Creations on stationery duty, Burgeon Floral Design creating floral magic, Lara Brewster making faces even more beautiful, and Kim Sandford crafting hair masterpieces. And let's not forget about Marina Bridal London, who supplied the stunning gowns, and Tabitha Textiles, who’s Napkins and Veil added those extra touches of elegance.

Now, I have to admit, our day didn't start off without a hitch, a supplier was unable to attend due to family emergency. But you know what they say— teamwork makes the dream work! Despite the initial hiccup, our team rallied together, and what followed was a day filled with laughter, productivity, and the creation of lasting bonds.

That's the beauty of a styled shoot, isn't it? It's not just about creating beautiful images; it's about coming together to inspire, express our artistry, and build connections within the industry.

As the day drew to a close, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to work with such a talented group of individuals. Our styled shoot was a true labour of love, and I hope that our creations serve as inspiration for couples planning their own special day.

So, here's to love, creativity, and the magic of weddings. Thanks for joining me on this journey, and until next time—keep dreaming, keep creating, and keep spreading love.

K Kakes Guide To Styled Shoots:

Styled shoots are perfect opportunity to build a portfolio to show prospective clients your artistry style. If you ever want to plan a styled shoot, here’s a step by-step guide to help. I hope you find it useful.

  1. Define Your Vision: Start by clarifying your vision for the shoot. Decide on the overall theme, colour palette, mood, and style. For a relaxed and elegant shoot, you might want to focus on soft, natural tones and incorporate elements of sophistication.
  2. Create a Mood Board: Gather inspiration from various sources such as Pinterest, magazines, and websites, and compile them into a mood board. This will help you visualize the aesthetic you want to achieve and communicate your ideas with collaborators.
  3. Choose the Location: Select a venue that complements your vision. Look for spaces that exude elegance while also providing a relaxed atmosphere, such as a charming garden, a historic mansion, or a cozy barn.
  4. Select Vendors: Collaborate with vendors who align with your vision and style. This includes photographers, florists, hairstylists, makeup artists, caterers, and rental companies. Choose vendors whose style aligns with your vision.
  5. Curate Decor and Details: Pay attention to every detail, from table settings to floral arrangements to signage. Opt for simple yet refined decor elements such as lush greenery, soft fabrics, and understated tableware. Incorporate personal touches that reflect your desired theme.
  6. Consider Wardrobe: Choose attire for models or participants that reflects the vibe of the shoot. Flowing dresses, tailored suits, and natural fabrics can enhance an aesthetic.
  7. Plan the Timeline: Create a detailed timeline outlining each stage of the shoot, from setup to teardown. Coordinate with vendors to ensure smooth transitions and allocate sufficient time for each component of the shoot.
  8. Prepare for Contingencies: Anticipate potential challenges and have backup plans in place. This could include inclement weather, vendor cancellations, or logistical issues. Flexibility and adaptability are key to overcoming obstacles and ensuring a successful shoot.
  9. Execute the Shoot: On the day of the shoot, remain organized and focused on bringing your vision to life. Communicate effectively with vendors and participants, and be open to creative improvisation if necessary.
